eSIM Philippines: Mobile Data Across the Islands
A prepaid data plan, no commitment and no roaming. 4G/5G on Globe, Smart (PLDT) & DITO: activate your eSIM in 2 minutes with a QR code emailed to you, before you leave.

The Philippines spans more than 7,600 islands, and mobile data is how most travellers book ferries, Grab rides and island-hopping tours. A TravelNet eSIM connects you on arrival at Manila, Cebu or Clark without buying a local SIM, which in the Philippines must be registered with an ID under the 2022 SIM Registration Act. Plans start from $2.99.

See the full FAQDoes an eSIM work in the Philippines?+
Yes. Any unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone can use a Philippines travel eSIM, which roams on a local network. Smart and Globe also sell their own eSIMs to residents, so eSIM is supported by the local networks.
Do I need to register a travel eSIM in the Philippines?+
The SIM Registration Act applies to SIMs issued by Philippine operators, which require a passport for foreigners. A travel eSIM issued abroad roams on a local network and does not go through that local registration.
Does the eSIM use Smart or Globe?+
The partner network is listed in the plan details before purchase. Both Smart and Globe cover the main cities and tourist areas in 4G LTE.
Is there coverage in Palawan and Siargao?+
El Nido, Coron, Puerto Princesa and General Luna have mobile coverage in town, but signal weakens on remote beaches and during boat trips. Download boarding passes and ferry tickets before island-hopping.
Can I use Grab with a travel eSIM?+
Yes, Grab works over eSIM data. Verification codes are sent by SMS to the number on your account, so keep your home SIM active on a dual-SIM phone.
Should I buy a SIM at Manila airport instead?+
Smart and Globe have counters at NAIA, but the SIM must be registered with your passport before it works. The eSIM is installed before departure and works as soon as you switch it on.
Using your Philippines eSIM
Install the QR code over Wi-Fi before you leave: the 4G/5G plan activates the first time it connects on arrival. The eSIM is data only, so your usual number stays active for WhatsApp, iMessage and calls.

Three operators run national networks: Smart (PLDT group), Globe and DITO, which launched commercially in 2021. Your plan uses the partner network named in the plan details. 4G LTE and 5G are available in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao; on island destinations such as El Nido, Coron, Siargao or Siquijor, signal depends on the municipality and can be weak on beaches and boats between islands. Typhoon season (roughly June to November) can also cause temporary outages.
